Infant/Toddler Inclusion Program
Support for Children & Families
Inclusion Specialist: Beth Heavlin, Inclusion Specialist | (707) 445-7087
In a collaborative effort between the Humboldt County Office of Education and First Five, Humboldt, the Inclusion Program serves children who are birth to five at a variety of the First Five playgroup sites. Our goal is to have children develop readiness skills for entry into school and to realize their full potential. We understand that the first five years are a crucial time for development and growth and that the most important factor in a child¹s life is his/her family.
Inclusion Support to Playgroups
Therefore, our objectives are to support families at playgroups by providing the following services:
- Information on community resources
- Appropriate referrals to community agencies
- One-on-one assistance to children who have behavioral and/or developmental needs.
- General developmental and parenting information.
- Informal support to the playgroups leaders.
Inclusion Support to Family Childcare Providers
In this current school year (2011-2012) we are piloting a program to serve select family child care homes that have children who are having a difficult time in a group setting. This pilot program is a collaborative effort with Changing Tides Family Services.
